Peace Process - India Vows Response After Ghastly Pakistan Attack

SRINAGAR, India : India arrested Pakistan associated with preventing a pair of connected with its military inside a "ghastly" harm Tuesday plus mutilating one of many bodies around the aggravating disputed border somewhere between the actual nuclear-armed neighbours.

Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid said India would give your "proportionate response" for the killings within Kashmir which usually he / she explained ended up which is designed to sabotage a great already fragile tranquility process.

The Pakistani military services scenario refused exactly what this labeled Indian "propaganda" so it reported seemed to be geared towards rerouting focus after a cross-border exchange along at the weekend during which a Pakistani jewellry had been killed.

The a couple of Indian military past away after a firefight split away all around midday because a new patrol relocating foggy illnesses found Pakistani troops about 50 % a new kilometre (1,600 feet) inside Indian territory, a great internet marketer spokesman said.

A ceasefire continues to be into position down the Line associated with Control which divides the nations around the world because 2003, but it really can be occasionally violated by each sides.

"There seemed to be a firefight with Pakistani troops," internet marketer spokesman Rajesh Kalia advised AFP in the mountainous Himalayan region, confirming that brands involving the actual gentlemen as sergeants Hemraj Singh and Sudhakar Singh.

"We lost not one but two troops and one of these has been desperately mutilated," he / she added, regressing to give a lot more points to the injuries.

"The criminals ended up typical (Pakistani) soldiers in addition to we were holding 400-500 metres (1,300-1,600 feet) on the inside each of our territory," he or she said of the battle around Mendhar sector, 173 kilometres (107 miles) gulf by highway on the location of Jammu.

Indian stories including a government source communicating in to AFP indicated the fact that mutilated jewellry may have been decapitated, nevertheless additional investigations plus a post-mortum had been instructed to verify this.

Speaking on Indian television, Khurshid referred to the killings while "inhuman" and "not the way civilised individuals cope with every single other".

"We should do something positive about this specific in addition to we all will, nonetheless it really needs to be done soon after careful thought dried up points in session while using defence ministry," Khurshid instructed the NDTV media channel.

"It is usually certainly unacceptable, ghastly, along with really, really terrible along with highly short-sighted by way of their part," they added, possible how the reply could well be "proportionate".

"This appears like an apparent hope to derail the dialogue," he / she added. "We have to discover ways when the dialogue is usually definitely not sabotaged and also destroyed."

Relations between the nearby neighbors had recently been slowly but surely enhancing during the last couple of several years following a rupture of their slow-moving peace practice following on from the 2008 approaches on Mumbai, which ended up blamed by India upon Pakistan-based militants.

In Islamabad, a new Pakistan government spokesman waived what he known as an "Indian allegation of unprovoked firing", dialling this Indian accounts "propaganda for you to divert the awareness belonging to the entire world out of Sunday's raid about a Pakistani post".

Pakistan's military pronounces Indian soldiers crossed the particular Line regarding Control on Sunday along with stormed a military post inside a great strike of which remaining one Pakistani jewellry dead and also an additional injured.

It lodged your conventional protest having India on Monday.

India denied crossing the particular line, but a foreign ministry spokesman claimed Indian soldiers had carried out "controlled retaliation" on Sunday right after "unprovoked firing" that will damaged a civilian home.

The deaths offer a significant blow for you to initiatives to alleviate stress with South Asia along with increase diplomatic relations. Steps for example cracking open in place buy and sell along with supplying more lenient charge regimes are already your attribute regarding recent high-level talks.

Muslim-majority Kashmir is often a Himalayan district that India along with Pakistan each declare entirely but concept around part. It was the cause of two with three wars involving the neighbours given that freedom from Britain throughout 1947.

The previous major escalation inside Kashmir took place in 1999 throughout arguing that said your lives of above 1,000 combatants with both equally sides immediately after India charged Pakistani militants and also troops regarding occupying organize Indian peaks.

The disputed dying involving Indian gift filler Saurabh Kalia, whom was presumably tortured once being captured through Kargil fighting, continues a good emotive situation in India 14 many years after the clash.

India's conductor news stations extensively reported today's feeting deaths plus alleged mutilation less than statements studying "Pak's Open Aggression", "Pakistan's Barbarism", and also "Kargil-type stunt".

The continue significant mobilisation of Indian troops to their national boundaries with Pakistan took place in 2001 soon after a great attack within the country's parliament inside New Delhi by means of all 5 Islamic militants.

At last Akbaruddin arrested

Mr Owaisi spent six hours today at a state-run hospital where doctors examined him to determine if he is medically fit to be questioned.
Mr Owaisi has been arrested by the police of Nirmal town in the Adilabad district; he was scheduled to appear before the police yesterday but sought four days' exemption on medical grounds.
A speech made by Mr Owaisi in Nirmal, nearly 200 kms from Hyderabad, led to charges of spreading communal hatred and waging war against the state.
Mr Owaisi belongs to the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or MIM party; his brother, Asauddin, is a parliamentarian.
Investigating officer A Raghu had found Akbaruddin fit enough to face police inquiry in connection with the case filed against him for the alleged provocative speech.
However, the MIM legislator had informed that he was suffering from pain and had sought four days time to appear before the Nirmal police for questioning. After this, the police had last night decided that he will be subjected to medical examination today.

why Sachin retired

The Indian Cricket Board on Wednesday claimed it was unaware of any talks between senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar and national selectors on his future in the wake of a prolonged form slump

Hanif Mohammad  believes the latter’s recent decision to retire from ODIs was taken under undue pressure.

“ There was something which prompted him to announce his retirement from the ODI cricket but we don’t know what the circumstances were. The timing of his decision was not correct,” the genial great said at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Saturday.

Sachin’s retirement has affected the team badly. Sachin announcing his retirement just a day before the commencement of the Indo- Pak series surprised many, including me. It was a wrong decision.” But the original ‘ Little Master’ once again paid rich tribute to the Mumbai maestro, calling him ‘ better than Bradman.’ He has done so much for cricket and India. For many, Bradman is the greatest to have ever graced the cricket field, but for me, Tendulkar is a step ahead of Sir Don,” the 78- year- old former batsman said.

Hanif also defended MS Dhoni, who is under fire for failing to arrest India’s slide across formats.

“ Dhoni as a captain has done a lot for Indian cricket. He has also improved as a batsman. There is nothing wrong in his captaincy.

It’s a different thing that the team is losing matches. Winning and losing is part of the game,” he said.

Talking about the current series, Hanif said he was proud of the way Pakistan had performed, and credited their bowlers.

“ Our team has a good combination. We have a good bowling attack and the team has also clicked as a batting unit, with Nasir Jamshed proving to be a class player. Our bowling attack has performed at a high level, and should get the credit for the series victory,” he said.

Asaram Bapu shocks, holds girl responsible for Delhi gangrape, demands rapists be 'spared'

A self-described 'spiritual guru' has sparked outrage in India after saying that the 23-year-old rape victim who died after being assaulted by six men was partly responsible for her own attack.

Asaram Bapu said that Jyoti Singh Pandey, whose fate has drawn the sympathy of the world and been treated as a national tragedy within India, was 'as guilty as her rapists'.

He added that she should have been more friendly to her attackers if she wanted to preserve her own life.

Politicians and web users have reacted with fury to the 71-year-old guru's comments.

Asaram Bapu's controversial intervention in the case comes on the day that five of Jyoti's six alleged attackers appeared in court to face charges of murder, rape and abduction.

A judge ordered that the courtroom should be closed to the public after more than 150 people tried to cram in to a room designed for around 30 during the suspects' initial hearing.

'Only five to six people are not the culprits,' Asaram Bapu said. 'The victim is as guilty as her rapists.

'She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop.'

He added: 'This could have saved her dignity and life. Can one hand clap? I don't think so.'

Leading political figures were quick to condemn the inflammatory comments, which one opposition politician called 'regrettable, deeply disturbing and painful'.

Sandeep Dikshit, from the ruling Congress party, said, 'Such comments should be condemned as much as possible,' while his colleague Rashid Alvi added that religious figures should 'give serious thought' before commenting on public affairs.

Nearly 100 activists of Bharatiya Samajik Sena, an organisation claiming to fight social evils, today protested here against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu's alleged remarks that the Delhi gangrape victim should have addressed the rapists as her "brother".

Condemning Asaram's comments, Bharatiya Samajik Sena president Sanjay Gadhvi told PTI that "we demand that Asaram apologise to the women of the country and urge him to take back his words".

Holding banners and placards reading "Shame on Asaram, Shame on Asaram", protestors burnt his effigies in Jashodanagar area of the city and said they would continue to organise protests across the city and the state if he does not apologise for his comments.

internet emits co2 -will u believe it

Clicking on all those viral videos, chain emails, celebrity tweets and paparazzi photos online adds up enough energy to rank the Internet –- if it were a country -– fifth in the world for electricity use.

That’s more power than Russia uses, according to a  new report about cloud-computing from Greenpeace.

Computer servers in data centers account for about 2% of global energy demand, growing about 12% a year, according to the group.  The servers, Greenpeace said, can suck up as much power as 50,000 average U.S. homes.

But most of what powers the cloud comes from coal and nuclear energy rather than renewable sources such as wind and solar, according to Greenpeace. Clusters of data centers are emerging in places like the Midwest, where coal-powered electricity is cheap and plentiful, the group said.

In its report, the organization zeroed in on 10 major tech companies, including Apple, Twitter and Amazon. Recently, the group has waged a feisty fight against Facebook, which relies on coal for 53.2% of its electricity, according to Greenpeace.

Many companies, the organization said, tightly guard data about the environmental impact and energy consumption of their IT operations. They also focus more on using energy efficiently than on sourcing it cleanly, Greenpeace said.

Yahoo landed bonus points for siting facilities near clean energy hot spots and using coal-based power for just 18.3% of its portfolio. Google got love for its extensive support of wind and solar projects and for creating a subsidiary, Google Energy, that can buy electricity directly from independent renewable power producers.

In 2005, the U.S. had 10.3 million data centers gobbling up enough energy to power all of Britain for two months, according to Internet marketing company WordStream.

Each month, electricity used to power searches on Google produces 260,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide and is enough to power a freezer for 5,400 years, according to WordStream. The searches use up 3.9 million kilowatt-hours -– the equivalent of 5 million loads of laundry.

A single spam email of the 62 trillion sent each year creates 0.3 grams of carbon dioxide. A Google search for “Soylent Green” spawns the same amount as driving a car three inches.
Internet and other components of information communication and technology (ICT) industry annually produces more than 830 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse gas, and is expected to double by 2020, a new study has found.

Researchers from the Centre for Energy-Efficient Telecommunications (CEET) and Bell Labs explain that the information communications and technology (ICT) industry, which delivers Internet, video, voice and other cloud services, produces about 2% of global CO2 emissions — the same proportion as the aviation industry produces.

In the report published in journal Environmental Science & Technology, researchers said their projections suggest that ICT sector's share in greenhouse gas emission is expected to double by 2020.

They have also found new models of emissions and energy consumption that could help reduce their carbon footprint.

The study said that controlling those emissions requires more accurate but still feasible models, which take into account the data traffic, energy use and CO2 production in networks and other elements of the ICT industry.

Existing assessment models are inaccurate, so they set out to develop new approaches that better account for variations in equipment and other factors in the ICT industry.

They describe development and testing of two new models that better estimate the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of Internet and telecommunications services.

The researchers suggest, based on their models, that more efficient power usage of facilities, more efficient use of energy-efficient equipment and renewable energy sources are three keys to reducing ICT emissions of CO2.

FINGERPRINT GUN-SOLUTION FOR MISUSE OF GUN

  • The illegal use of guns has become one of our major problems these days. It threatens public security worldwide. Fingerprint Gun integrates user-friendly fingerprint identification systems with an embedded memory chip to ensure the user is its legal owner.
  • The memory chip is located at the upper end of the gun barrel. The indicator on the gun’s front sight attachment will turn to green when the fingerprint information is verified to be correct.
  • It allows the user to shoot with the gun. The wrong fingerprint will turn the indicator to red and the gun can’t be used. Fingerprint Gun has been designed to control the use of private guns for better public security.

HOW IT WORKS:

Handguns are a danger in any industrialized country, and despite active gun registries and police crackdowns, their use only seems to be increasing. Now, designer Sun Xiaotian has come up with a novel way of protecting the peace and the "piece" - the Fingerprint Gun.

            1. The idea here is that a safety-conscious citizen would buy and register the Fingerprint Gun and have their prints encoded in the memory chip.

            2. If they wanted to shoot something, they would need to place their thumb on top of the fingerprint scanner at the back of the gun to have it read.
               3. Once a correct match had been confirmed, a small indicator light would turn green at the barrel of the gun.
               4. If a finger not belonging to the owner was scanned or if no fingerprint was present, then gun simply wouldn't work.

internet - 30 years glorious journey

The start of 2013 marks a significant milestone for the internet, as it is 30 years ago that Arpanet, precursor of the modern day internet, was switched to running on the TCP/IP protocol stack, a move that paved the way for the global internet as we know it today.
The deadline was 1 January, 1983: after this, any of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network's (ARPANET) 400 hosts that were still clinging to the existing, host-to-host Network Control Protocol (NCP) were to be cut off.
The move to packet switching with TCP/IP was simultaneous and co-ordinated with the community in the years before 1983. More than 15 government and university institutions from NASA AMES to Harvard University used NCP on ARPANET.

With so many users, though, there was plenty of disagreement. The deadline was ultimately set because everybody using ARPANET was convinced of the need for wholesale change.

TCP/IP was the co-creation of Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn, who published their paper, A Protocol for Packet Network Interconnection (warning: PDF) in 1974.

ARPANET was the wide-area network sponsored by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) that went live in 1969, while Cerf had been an ARPANET scientist at Stanford University. The military had become interested in a common protocol as different networks and systems using different protocols began to hook up to ARPANET and found they couldn’t easily talk to each other,

Cerf, who today is vice-president and "chief internet evangelist" at Google, announced the 30th anniversary of the TCP/IP switchover in an official Google blog post titled "Marking the birth of the modern-day Internet".

The 1983 deadline’s passing was anticlimactic, Cerf recalls, considering how important TCP/IP became as an enabler for the internet. Cerf writes:

When the day came, it’s fair to say the main emotion was relief, especially amongst those system administrators racing against the clock. There were no grand celebrations—I can’t even find a photograph. The only visible mementos were the “I survived the TCP/IP switchover” pins proudly worn by those who went through the ordeal!
Yet, with hindsight, it’s obvious it was a momentous occasion. On that day, the operational Internet was born. TCP/IP went on to be embraced as an international standard, and now underpins the entire Internet.

It was a significant moment, and without TCP/IP we wouldn’t have the internet as we know it.

But that wasn’t the end of the story, and three years later TCP/IP was in trouble as it suffered from severe congestion to the point of collapse.

TCP/IP had been adopted by the US military in 1980 following successful tests across three separate networks, and when it went live ARPANET was managing 400 nodes.

After the January 1983 switchover, though, so many computer users were starting to connect to ARPANET - and across ARPANET to other networks - that traffic had started to hit bottlenecks. By 1986 there were 28,000 nodes chattering across ARPANET, causing congestion with speeds dropping from 32Kbps to 40bps across relatively small distances.

It fell to TCP/IP contributor Van Jacobson, who’d spotted the slowdown between his lab in Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley — just 400 yards and two IMP hops apart – to save TCP/IP and the operational internet.

Jacobson devised a congestion-avoidance algorithm to lower a computer's network data transfer speed and settle on a stable but slower connection rather than blindly flooding the network with packets.

The algorithm allowed TCP/IP systems to process lots of requests in a more conservative fashion. The fix was first applied as a client-side patch to PCs by sysadmins and then incorporated into the TCP/IP stack. Jacobson went on to author the Congestion Avoidance and Control (SIGCOMM 88) paper (here) while the internet marched on to about one billion nodes.

And even this is not the end of the story. Years later, in an interview with The Reg, Jacobson reckoned TCP/IP faces another crisis - and, again, it's scalability.

arrival of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi from London to Hyderabad

January 06:
In wake of the arrival of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi from London the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police have been put on alert.Police have put check posts in Bahadurpura and Chandrayangutta areas in order to prevent MIM activists going to airport in the form of rally.

The cops especially in south zone have been posted on emergency 24hrs duty and patrolling has also been intensified in sensitive parts of city.

A heavy security bandobust has been posted at Shamshabad Rajiv Gandhi International airport and police is taking up mass vehicle checking operations. However MIM activists in large numbers have gathered at the aiport in order welcome their firebrand leader.

Akbar against whom many cases of spreading communal hatred were registered in state and in Delhi, but police could not question him since he was in London for treatment. The cases have been registered under Section 121 (waging or attempting to wage war against the state), Section 153 (A) and Section 295A (for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).

MIM Floor leader has been asked to appear before police on Jan 8 at Nirmal town and on Jan 9 at Nizamabad for questioning with regard to the speeches he delivered at public meetings at Nirmal and Nizamabad towns last month.

MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi booked: The hate speech controversy

Two FIRs against MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for hate speech

Hyderabad: Taking suo motu action, Andhra Pradesh Police on Thursday filed two FIRs against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly making a "hate speech" against a particular community.

The FIRs were registered at Adilabad and Nizamabad districts last night and notices were dispatched to Owaisi seeking his appearance before the Investigating Officers (IOs) to record his statement, Director General of Police (DGP) V Dinesh Reddy said.

Despite the chorus demanding action against him, the police had not moved against the MIM MLA and leader of the party in Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Akbaruddin’s elder brother Asaduddin Owaisi is the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad.

However, the DGP denied that there was delay in filing the cases and said they were following certain procedures because Owaisi was a people's representative and the police wanted to be sure and gather concrete evidence before moving forward.

The legislator had allegedly used inflammatory and derogatory language against a particular community during his public speeches last month.

While the Nizamabad speech was made on December 08, Akbaruddin made the hate speech at Nirmal town in Adilabad on December 24.

"There may be slight delay in view of transcribing the speeches due to the language (Urdu) factor," the DGP said.

The police have booked Akaruddin under Section 153(A) of the IPC - creating enmity between different communities.

The MIM leader, in his almost two-hour long speech on Dec 24 at Nirmal, allegedly tried to instigate the crowd by calling for a "test of strength" against a community.

Chandrayangutta has been booked under IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, language etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). He has also been booked under IPC Section 121 (waging or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India).

A local court today had directed the police to investigate a complaint filed by a city-based businessman, S Venkatesh Goud, against the MIM legislator.

The 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) directed Osmania University Police to investigate the complaint and file a report before it on January 28.

Goud had filed a complaint before the court alleging that the Chandrayangutta legislator had given "highly provocative and derogatory" speech on a particular community, which was telecast on a local television channel on December 8 and 9.

Social activist Shabnam Hashmi has also lodged a complaint at Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi against the MIM leader for allegedly making derogatory remarks about a particular community.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy told reporters that the law would take its own course in Akbaruddin's case. He said the government had no role in the matter and it was for the police to take action as per the law.

He said it had come to the notice of the government that Akbaruddin made provocative speeches in Adilabad and Nizamabad districts.

The MIM leader, whose party snapped ties with ruling Congress party in November last year, was addressing public meetings aimed at what was called exposing communal attitude of Kiran Kumar Reddy's Congress government.
